Celtic Rose
This was a UI remodeling job that I did for the Celtic Rose online store.
The original version of the site was automatically generated by the ShopSite
e-commerce package, which provided an inconsistent sidebar that made the
site incredibly difficult to navigate, and made it a very plain, unappealing
site to look at. My job was to simplify the navigation and make the site a
bit easier on the eye.
Since it was not possible to customize the navigation elements that the
ShopSite software generated, I decided to use frames, making the sidebar
navigation page a static HTML file that she could maintain outside of
ShopSite's automation. I'm not entirely content with the outcome, as it
has begum to show the browser's scroll bar on the sidebar as the client
has since added more sections. But since it was the only option that would
work effectively with her ShopSite software, that was an unavoidable side
effect.
From there it was just a matter of adding a pleasant background and some
celtic-themed stock border images to the sidebar, and the transformation was
complete. This may not be the most extravagant visual design I've done, but
it's not bad for a single night's work.
